Today I Wore: Thanksgiving and Trimming the Tree

23 Nov

Happy (belated) Thanksgiving everyone! I hope you had a great holiday filled with food, fun and family! Here are a few snapshots from my day, and the outfits that I wore!

We started the day by running a road race, The Feaster Five! The best part is you get a pie after crossing the finish line!

I’ve been running this race since I was 3 (back then I did the kid’s fun run) but this year was the 19th time I ran with my Dad. And of course I wore a bow!

Today we went to the tree farm to cut down our Christmas tree! My mom loves to start getting into the Christmas spirit as soon as the Thanksgiving is over, so we always get our tree the day after.

It was such a nice warm day that I didn’t even have to bundle up or wear gloves when cutting down the tree!

As for an outfit I wore my blue jeans (yes I own a pair of jeans!), a tan sweater, my white peter pan collar, and my mustard bow jacket!

I also got to show off my new leather riding boots! They are so comfy and perfect for fall!

How was your Thanksgiving? Do you have any family traditions around the holidays? Be sure to leave a comment below!

Today I Wore: Smile for the Camera!

16 Nov

This semester, as I’ve said before, has been super busy but amazingly rewarding. Over the summer I applied for an internship at a local news organization, and have been blessed with the opportunity to test out my skills in the field of journalism! Aside from interning I’ve been ‘weather-girling’ (is that a verb? I’ll just go with it) for one of my school’s local news shows, EIV at 6.

I have had so much fun bonding with the crew and cast of the show, and working on my skills as a reporter!

Although it is a bit funny to see yourself on TV!

This shot is from a shoot I did on a local haunted house in Salem! It was so fun getting to go behind the scenes of a haunted house, and see all the spooks and scares up close. Here’s the package online if you’d like a bit of a scare yourself! :)

Get the Look!

This is a simple outfit look, that would be great for an internship or being on camera! While blazers are a bit on the way out, despite what my teacher may say, it’s always good to have one handy. For shoes, be sensible, but I just love these retro style Kimchi Blue pumps! For a dress, keep it classy and in a fun color that compliments your coloring! For accessories keeping it simple is always good, but a bit of sparkle never hurt anyone! Lastly, for hair keep it chic, cute and styled.

Are any of you in the field of journalism? Doing internships this semester? If the photos aren’t enough check out last week’s election show here!

Have a great weekend! *Sparkle On and Wear Bows*

Halloweekend Style

27 Oct

Halloween has always been one of my favorite holidays because it combines two of my favorite things, dressing up, and eating candy! This year my friends and I have been celebrating Halloween this weekend (and lovingly call it Halloweekend) and I had so much fun dressing up and making memories with friends! Read on to see two costumes I put together from items I already owned!

Earlier this week I decided to get a hair cut, to be a bit more professional for my journalism internship. I’m still getting used to not having so much hair, but my new cut was perfect for a flapper costume! (Plus I’ve been reading The Great Gatsby on my train rides to interning and I was just in a jazzy mood!)

This first costume was a Gatsby-esque flapper! Starting with a fun drop waist dress, I added black gloves, a fun pearl and ribbon necklace, T-strap pumps and of course a feather head piece!

It was so fun to be a flapper, and it helped me ease into my new haircut!

The next night I channeled some old time Hollywood glam, as my favorite style icon, Audrey Hepburn! For this costume I used a black vintage dress that I got a Goodwill, reused my black gloves, topped it off with my detachable peter pan pearl collar. And I can’t forget the crown!

We had so much fun dressing up as Elmo, Hutch, and a cat!

I just love Halloween! Have you started celebrating ? What was your costume? Let me know in a comment below!

Today I Wore: Fall Edition

8 Oct

Today I took a break from the city and took a trip to Salem, MA! Salem is amazing this time of year, from the museums, decorations to the fun people dressed in costumes!

This time of year, there are so many great local artists and vendors on the streets! I just loved these hand painted masks!

After walking around, and shopping we decided to stop at the Witch Dungeon Museum!

Their gift shop had so many fun trinkets! I especially loved the Witch Balls! They were so pretty and unique!

As for an outfit today was sort of chilly so I went with a pair of maroon tights, a 1960′s school dress, added a thrifted wool sweater. As for accessories I paired a vintage coach bag, a gold locket and of course, a maroon bow!

Do you have any fall traditions!? Have you started planning or decorating for Halloween? Let me know in a comment below!

Today I Wore: Sweet Summer Songs

25 Aug

“In summer, the song sings itself,” or atleast that’s what William Carlos Williams believes, and I happen to agree with him. This summer has truly flown by at a breath taking speed, and I’m already facing down my senior year of college, my boyfriend’s move to the west coast (for the semester), and seeing my younger sister go off to college. As such the last few days have been super busy from squeezing in drinks with friends, shopping for supplies, and seeing my boyfriend play in a show! Read on for some photos and a video of some sweet summer songs!
